Motorized Pallet Truck
A Motorized Pallet Truck normally goes by other names including: Walkie or Walkie-Rider. These pieces of machinery are essentially a motorized version of a pallet jack. They come in both "Walkie" models and "Rider" versions.
The walkie type as the name implies, is made to enable the operator to walk along the machinery as they lift and transport loads. The operator stands on a small platform on the Rider model. The rider models are ideal for frequent transporting of cargo over extended distances within manufacturing operations and warehouses. They are extremely fast and maneuverable.
It is not recommended to lift and move unstable or tall loads because there are no safety cages on these models. A rider might be the right answer if you are searching for an inexpensive method for transporting cargo from one location to another. If though, you must move heavy loads short distances, and prefer to use a more employee-friendly unit instead of a pallet jack, the walkie model might be the best option.
Order Selector
An Order Selector also goes by the name of Order picker. This machine is specially designed for manual handling of less-than-pallet-load quantities in racking. There are fixed forks attached to a platform in the Man-up design. This platform elevates both the operator and the load in an effort to facilitate manual loading and unloading from racking areas.
Order Selectors are normally very narrow aisle vehicles that could work in aisles of less than six feet. They are really useful pieces of machine in cycle counting situations as well as in physical inventories. Order selectors are available in lift heights up to 40 feet high, though models that range in the 20 to 30 foot range are much more common.
