In 1966, Bud Bushnell established Genie Industries. At that time, he purchased the manufacturing rights to a material lift that functioned on compressed air. The name Genie originated from the "magic in the bottle" that was used to lower and raise the hoist. This device greatly impressed customers and thus, the name was established.
Genie expanded operations and established itself into different new markets, since the need for platforms and work lifts grew. Over time, as the demand for new machines to meet many applications grew, the company made itself recognized in many new markets. Like for instance, Genie went into making man-lifts, articulated booms, light towers stick booms and telehandlers.
Because of the economic downturn in the start of the 2000s, Genie decided to acquire a partner who had the same values. They partnered up together with Terex Corporation. This company has a history obtaining equipment manufacturers all over the world who proved to be a good business match. Genie Industries was sold in 2002 and became a part of Terex Corporation.
In the early years after the sale, it was decided to maintain the Genie brand within the Terex Aerial Work Platforms or AWP segment of Terex, because of the name's solid reputation within the marketplace. Thus, all Genie machines continue to be marketed under the Genie brand name.
Genie takes pride in listening to their clients. The company is dedicated to continually improving efficiency and quality and is also committed to minimizing waste. Even long after the sale has been closed, the company concentrates on offering outstanding support. These are the very work practices which have made Genie a trusted brand over the past decades and continue to keep their reputation for quality and top-of-the-line machines.
The DC and Bi-Energy equipment provided by Genie offers emission-free, quiet operation even in the most delicate work settings. Where the machinery needs to be driven significant distances, like for example in industrial situations, the Genie bi-energy system combines the advantages of a 48V DC equipment together with the power of a diesel-powered generator.
Telescopic booms provide more horizontal reach, compared to any of the different aerial platforms. These machines are great for limited access areas or small areas in all types of environments. The Genie Telescopic S booms have been designed to provide utmost productivity. These equipment provide supreme traction and the drive speed you require in order to travel around the job area and work site.
