High Impact Forklift Safety
Occupational Safety and Health Administration or OSHA statistics have shown that most of the accidents caused by lift trucks also occur from the failure of individuals following proper safety features. Anybody from the operators, co-employees and pedestrians must make sure and be aware these situations are prevented. Fortunately, there are numerous ways to solve these problems.
Inspection
Even if a high impact forklift is a tough and durable equipment, capable of withstanding a few knocks during its shift, it is absolutely not indestructible by any means. At the beginning of every shift, the operator needs to inspect the cleanliness and usability of the machinery. If anything out of the ordinary must happen, the driver needs to immediately alert their superior. Inspections on a daily basis should be done at the start or end of each shift to make sure that the lift truck is in proper running condition.
Training
Training to operate a lift truck is necessary and an important measure which helps to ensure the safety of the driver and their co-employees. Training is provided so as to teach the forklift workers how to handle stability issues, how to properly check the machinery and also how to respond to emergency situations. Lots of companies offer lift truck training. Upon successful completion of the course, a license and certification will be provided as proof of passing the training.
Exhaustion
A forklift is a big piece of operating machine. It should never be used when the driver is unfocused or really exhausted. Accidents occurring from exhaustion are unfortunately a common experience. These errors could be easily avoided if the worker just admits that they are not capable of driving the forklift when they are really feeling exhausted.
